Alliance and Trail Partners Host Successful Work Party

Dec 7, 2015 | Uncategorized

On Saturday December 5th the Alliance, Table Rock Ultras, and the local Friends of the Mountains-To-Sea Trail held a successful work party on Greentown trail in Pisgah National Forest. Over 30 volunteers participated in the work.

In addition to general maintenance to the first 1.5 miles of trail, other work performed included fine-tuning contracted machine-work performed by Terra Tek Trails.  The Alliance plans on continuing to involve trail professionals where we can since there are so many areas that mechanized equipment can rehabilitate the trail, and also save many hours of volunteer work.

Greentown is dedicated section of the Mountains to Sea State Trail. It is heavily used by mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers, and now this classic Pisgah trail has received some much-needed trail love. The Alliance would like to thank all of the volunteers and trail partners on this event, and also recognize the State Trails Program and the Grandfather District for the assistance in the coordination. We look forward to more continued partnerships down the road!
