Two members of the Alliance Board of Directors are set to ride in the Old Fort Strong Endurance Festival on Saturday and Sunday December 7th and 8th. The event is being held to raise awareness and funding for the Old Fort Strong Fund, which aims to raise over $2 million in donations to support residents and businesses rebuilding after Hurricane Helene. Below are some details about the duo, including links to their donor pages.
Rob Glynn, a resident of Hickory, has raced in many endurance mountain bike events over the years, including PMBAR, the BURN 24, and 6 Hours of Warrior Creek, primarily on a single-speed bike. “I’ll be racing alongside my son, Nat, who lives in DC but is coming to town just for the race,” says Rob. “Although I’m semi-retired from racing, I am moved to get back at it to support the Old Fort community.” Nat Glynn is also an Alliance member who has ridden all over the WNC region.
Travis Hutchins, of Boone,
has also competed in several endurance races, including 6WC and the Wausau 24 in Wisconsin. Most recently, he has focused on completing the Trans North Georgia route. “I felt so compelled to show up. Old Fort reminds me so much of where I grew up, and I feel energized to see what I can do,” says Travis.
Please consider following the links above to donate to the efforts of Rob, Nat, and Travis. If you are volunteering or attending the event at Camp Grier, be sure to stop by the Alliance tent to cheer these three on!
