Lake James State Park – Community Workday and Ride @ Lake James MTB Trailhead
Feb 24 @ 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
• Please join us for a Community Trail Workday at Lake James State Park! This event is free of charge. Meet at the Paddys Creek MTB parking lot. Please bring a daypack with water & snacks. We will provide TOOLS & trail crew leaders. No experience required. We will be performing maintenance on the Wimba Loops. Work will include trimming & clearing drainages to help control water on the trail. Sturdy footwear recommended. If you have gloves & safety glasses, please bring them.
• Also, for those interested we’ll lead a, no-drop, group mountain bike ride after the work session. So, bring your riding gear & your Mtn bike!
• SCHEDULE:
9:00am – Meet at Lake James State Park / Paddy’s Creek MTB Trailhead
9:00am – 9:15am – Safety talk, crew assignment, explanation of tasks
9:15am – 12:00pm – Trail Work
12:00pm – 12:15pm – Return to trailhead & collect tools
1:00pm – Group Ride (optional)

Join us March 23rd for a workday on Zack’s Fork mountain bike trails in Lenoir. We will be meeting at the parking near the soccer fields.  At 9am, we will divide into groups and head into the  work sites. Bring sturdy footwear, work gloves, and water. Tools will be provided.

Plan to bring lunch and your bike. For those interested we’ll be riding after the workday.

Mortimer Spring Trail Weekend 2024 @ Mortimer Campground

We’re back for the Spring Trail weekend in 2024! 2023 was a great year for our inaugural Work weekends in Mortimer. At the core of this event is partnerships with the local community and organizations.

Our central event is the trail workday on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. In addition, there will be several organized rides on surrounding trails. Free camping will be available for those who sign up for the trail work. So we can plan accordingly, if you will be attending any portion of the weekend, fill out the following form: Mortimer Spring Trail Weekend RSVP.  Any updates to the plan (weather, etc.) will be emailed to the RSVP list.

Saturday Trail Work – 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Saturday Afternoon Ride – 3:00 p.m.

For the trail work, bring sturdy footwear, work gloves, snacks/lunch, and water. Tools will be provided, but bring your own favorite tool if you have one.

Join the Alliance for National Public Lands Day at Kerr Scott. We will be meeting at the Visitors Assistance Center near the main OVT trailhead at 9am. From there we will divide into groups and cover several maintenance items along the OVT and adjacent trails. Bring sturdy footwear, work gloves, and water. Tools will be provided. Please fill out the Trail Volunteer RSVP form so we can plan ahead.
