
Come help us give the trails at Lake James State Park some love! We will be meeting on Saturday 12/3 at the Linville River Trailhead to work on the Fonta Flora trail inside the State Park. To access to this trailhead turn into the Linville River Campground at Hwy. 126 (35.794913, -81.890785). The trailhead parking area will be on your right as you drive in the campground.
This workday will begin at 9am. Pack water and snacks to take with you on the trail. Sturdy footwear and work gloves recommended. Tools will be provided, and work will end around 1pm.

Join us for our Annual Chapter Meeting on Friday, December 9 at the Anchor Coffee in North Wilkesboro. Anchor Coffee is graciously keeping their doors open for our meeting and serving a variety of coffee and other beverages. Doors open at 6. Meeting will start promptly at 6:30. A ride has been scheduled to depart Anchor at 4pm for a quick loop at Cub Creek. Check our Facebook page for details on the ride if weather is questionable.
During this meeting we will take care of some quick annual business, provide some information on the state of the Alliance, and then have plenty of time for conversation. Details on food are forthcoming.
Meeting is open to everyone, including non-members.

Join the Alliance for a Sustainable Trails Workshop at Lake James State Park! This event is free of charge. Pre-registration is required, and attendance is limited.
The focus of the event will be sustainable trail basics, and particularly trail maintenance. This program will be two parts: the morning session will be a classroom setup and the afternoon will be out on the trails. Attendees are welcome to sign up for one or both of these options on the registration form.

Instructor
This workshop will be led by Tim Johnson of Destination by Design. He has previously worked in several positions including the Rockingham Community College TRAILS Program, and as the Western Region Trails Specialist of the N.C. Trails Program. Tim also provided oversight to the Fonta Flora State Trail though the Burke County Community Development Office.

We’re going riding! We will meet at 2:00 PM at the back entrance (off of Boomer/Ferguson School Rd) at the pump track. This will be a no drop ride and we’ll split up the group based on abilities. Headwaters Hub trails will be available for sessioning as well as full Warrior Creek loop. We’ll likely hit up one of our great sponsors Anchor Coffee post ride. Looking forward to seeing y’all there.

Come Cheer on your local NICA teams as they compete at the Dark Mountain Dash! There are many opportunities to volunteer and these student athletes could all use your support.

The SORBA Summit will be in Old Fort, NC, April 12th-16th, 2023. This event will be hosted in partnership with the Alliance and G5 Trail Collective. The Summit schedule, registration link, lodging and camping details, and other info will be posted here as it develops. The weekend will also feature several guided group rides in and around Old Fort’s Gateway Trail System. The rides will be free of charge and open to the public. Stay tuned!
The Bootlegger 100 is one of the most challenging and scenic gravel events of the year! The Alliance provides race support to this event. If you’d like to help volunteer, contact us and we’ll get you the details!

Led by veteran women riders in our area, this ride are being promoted as an opportunity for women of all abilities to meet others, have fun, and ride! Group Rides based on ability in the morning. Snacks and refreshments at the “Saddle”. Lunch in the Parking lot followed by a pump track jam.

This second-annual event will have a work & ride on Saturday morning and several organized rides on surrounding trails. Free camping will be available for members of the Alliance and other SORBA chapters. If you are interested in attending any portion of the weekend, fill out the following form: LINK. RSVP’s are mandatory for the camping but please let us know if you are attending any other part of the weekend so we can plan accordingly. Any updates to the plan (weather, etc.) will be emailed to the RSVP list.
Join the Alliance for National Trails Day at Kerr Scott. We will meet at the Visitors Assistance Center at the main OVT trailhead. Work will begin at 9 am; please arrive a few minutes early if possible. Work will end around noon. Bring sturdy footwear and work gloves, plus water and snacks to take with you on the trail. Tools will be provided. A group ride is scheduled at 1pm.
