Community Trail Work Day at Rocky Knob Park

Boone Area Cyclists and The Alliance are hosting a joint Community Trail Day at Rocky Knob Park. Volunteers will work to update and improve a trail system that has becoming recognized throughout the region.

Pack water and snacks to take with you on the trail. Sturdy footwear and work gloves recommended. Tools will be provided, and work will end around noon.  This will be the day before the Women’s MTB Kick-off event at Rocky Knob as well.

Holly Springs Work Party

The Alliance is proud to be working with the Tarheel Trailblazers for some work on Holly Springs (aka Sinkhole), a classic Pisgah trail. This day will be a work party and group ride and also part of a full camping weekend for those interested in more.

Work will be focusing on Lower Holly Springs trail. Duties include corridor trimming, drainage, and tread armoring. If you have hand saws or pruners please bring them. Other tools will be provided by the Alliance and Trailblazers

On Saturday, work will begin at 10am, and wrap up no later than 4pm. Ride afterward will be led by local riders.

If planning on eating at group dinner on Saturday, please bring some cash to help with the food.

Sunday will involve riding more trails in the area as desired. Bring your bike and a smile; it will be a good time.

Meeting location will be at the lower trailhead at the intersection of FSR 982 Mortimer Piedmont Rd. and the gated FSR 986 Piedmont Springs Rd. Coordinates: 35.920592,-81.792411. Down to Volunteer? Signup here

National Trails Day at OVT

Join the Alliance for National Trails Day at Kerr Scott. We will be meeting at the Visitors Assistance Center at the main OVT trailhead. From there we will divide into groups and cover several maintenance items along the OVT and adjacent trails. Bring sturdy footwear and work gloves. Tools will be provided. Lunch will be provided, and a ride is scheduled shortly after lunch.

The trails surrounding Old Fort are some of the best in WNC, and the weekend of Nov 17-18th they are going to get some love. Along with two of our neighboring chapters, we will be helping promote and organize this exciting weekend of work, riding, and camaraderie. Base camp for the event will be on the doorstep of Pisgah at Camp Grier, and the hosts are offering dinner, lodging, and more (like free shuttles to the top of the trails).This will be a great time!  Find all the information and register at: https://www.campgrier.org/rideandrun.
