IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day will be celebrated at Lake Hickory Trails on October 6th at 10am. Join the Alliance for a fun morning of riding dedicated to the kids!
TKMBD is an annual celebration held officially on the first Saturday of October. The event, developed and coordinated by IMBA, strives to encourage communities around the world to join together and ride mountain bikes with youth. Over the years we’ve had tens of thousands of kids participate from across the globe, including: Italy, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Malaysia, and Mexico. Informal or formal, one child or 100 children, TKMBD celebrates the joy of riding in the dirt.
Besides being good, healthy fun, the goal is to develop a connection between kids and the natural world around them. Today’s children are tomorrow’s land managers and politicians — future decision-makers for important matters like recreation and access to public lands. How different might our current access landscape look today if previous generations of policy makers had grown up riding bikes on natural-surface trails?
This year’s event will have many NICA Student Athletes participating as four teams from our region will be in attendance. Come on out to see what its all about!
An adult group ride when the kids’ ride commences (around 1 pm).
To register a kid, please RSVP! If you are interested in helping with the event (or need more information at all), email the Alliance at email@example.com.
The year 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. In celebration, the US Forest Service and other public and private partners are hosting a large public event in the Wilson Creek Wild and Scenic River watershed on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 9am to 4pm. The day-long event is intended to recognize the history of Wilson Creek and its designation as a wild and scenic river and provide river-based stewardship and educational activities while bringing attention to today’s needs and opportunities. There will be food and entertainment provided by local vendors and musicians.
The Alliance will have a booth at the event and lead volunteer work on Lower Wilson Ridge Trail from 9am until noon. A guided group ride is also scheduled at 2pm. Meeting location for all activities will be at the Wilson Creek Visitors Center.
Please find a list of all of festival partners and more details on the event here: Event Flier
