Great Turnout for Chapter Meeting

Mar 27, 2014 | Uncategorized

Thanks to everyone who attended the Chapter meeting on March 26. A nice-sized group of over 25 individuals were present. We had great representation from all over the NWNC area, including the Boone, Hickory, Lenoir, Morganton, and Wilkesboro communities.

The program included business updates on the state of the Alliance, as well as current projects underway like Zacks Fork. Future plans for trails, outreach, and promotions were also presented.

The highlight of the evening was a presentation by guest speaker, Sean McElhone, West District Superintendent for the state parks system.  Sean outlined the status of the trails under construction at Lake James State ParkThe trails are not open to the public at this time, but tentatively scheduled to open on National Trails Day, June 7. The Alliance will be contributing to this event, and currently working with the park staff on future MTB planning, including a long-term trail maintenance agreement. Stay tuned for more information on this.
