Lake James Opening a Grand Success

Jun 11, 2014 | Uncategorized

The new mountain bike trail system at Lake James State Park is officially open for business after the grand opening on June 7, National Trails Day. The parking lot was filled to capacity as more than 50 mountain bikers from all over the region turned out to celebrate the opening and sample the fresh dirt. The Alliance helped organize and promote the event along with the park staff and Friends of Lake James State Park.

Prior to the ribbon-cutting, Park Superintendent Nora Coffey recognized the Alliance, who helped fine-tune the trails with over 50 hours of volunteer work in the weeks leading up to the opening.

Thanks to Appalachian Mountain Sports, Cycle-Wright, and DeFeet who set up vendor booths and helped us promote our chapter by offering nice incentives for those who signed up for a membership.

Below are links to more information on the new trails including maps and a photo gallery of the event. Check that out, then go ride!
