Fall is just around the corner. Hopefully you are enjoying some great riding in the woods as temperatures start to cool! This newsletter is sent to our members and all contacts we have acquired at events or through IMBA-SORBA. Sustainable Trails Workshop October 14 at Riverbend Park

Join the Alliance for a Sustainable Trails Workshop at Riverbend Park! This event is free of charge and led by Tim Johnson, Director of the Rockingham Community College TRAILS Program. The morning session will be held inside the Riverbend Community Center beginning at 10:00 am while afternoon field work will be on the trails, ending at 2:30 pm. Old Fort Trail Weekend Nov. 17-19 at Camp Grier

The trails surrounding Old Fort are some of the best in WNC, and the weekend of November 17th-19th they are going to get some love. Along with two of our neighboring chapters, we will be helping promote and organize this exciting weekend of work, riding, and camaraderie. Base camp for the event will be on the doorstep of Pisgah at Camp Grier, and the hosts are offering dinner, lodging, and more (like free shuttles to the top of the trails).This will be a great time! To register or find additional information, READ MORE.

Upcoming Trail Work Parties

September 24: National Public Lands Day at OVT
October 14: Riverbend Park
November 4: Lake James State Park
November 17-19: Old Fort Trail Weekend

Notes: Work Parties will begin at 9 am (with the exception of Riverbend and Old Fort). Pack water and snacks to take with you on the trail. Sturdy footwear and work gloves are recommended. Tools will be provided and work will end around noon. Group rides follow at 1:00 pm so don’t forget your bike!

Dates and work detail subject to change. Please see rideNWNCtrails.com/calendar for updates. Any day-of cancellations will be posted on Facebook site so check there if weather looks questionable.

Trail Prom 2017 Success

The Alliance held its second annual trail fundraiser on August 26 at Dooley’s Grill & Tavern in Wilkesboro. Thanks to all our amazing SPONSORS! All proceeds from Trail Prom will fund new trail construction or other maintenance projects. READ about fun and view the PHOTOS on our website.

Save the date! For next year, we have already set the day and venue for the third annual Trail Prom. Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Blowing Rock.

Trail News & Rides

Bell Joy Rides
Alliance Member and Bell Joy RideAmbassador Lauren Hutchins will lead a ride on October 8 at Rocky Knob in Boone. Plan on a post-ride social and lots of prizes! Lauren has recently led rides in Pisgah during August and Warrior Creek in September. Joy Rides are mountain bike rides for women looking for both camaraderie and a little challenge in a fun and supportive environment. Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day
TKMBD is scheduled for October 7 at Lake James State Park. The Alliance will be hosting this EVENT. Read about IMBA’s TKMBD HERE.

NEW TRAIL at Lake Hickory is OPEN !
The new 1.8 mile beginner loop is now open.The lake side of the greenway is open but the non-lake side of the greenway is currently closed. There are many more changes and additions planned for the park and support is needed. Please head over to lakehickorytrails.com to help the cause.

Come out for a group ride!
Group rides are scheduled at Lake Hickory, Lake James, Rocky Knob, Zacks Fork, and other trails near you. Find these events on the Alliance Calendar.
