In the wake of Hurricane Helene, many of our trail volunteers have joined hundreds of others to assist those in need. Incredible work has been done in our region. While our communities are still facing challenges, significant strides toward recovery have been made. The road ahead will continue to take time.
We’ve received numerous inquiries about trail plans and are beginning to ease back into those efforts. We currently have several events in the works, with more details to come. Below is a list of current updates:
Clean Up and Repair at Kerr Scott, Saturday, October 19
Lake Hickory Park Trails Workday and Ride, Sunday, October 20
AMB Community Pint Night Thursday, Thursday, October 24
Lake James State Park Trail Cleanup, Saturday, October 26
Rocky Knob Park is currently open due to the efforts of many local volunteers in Boone. Some trails are still closed off and being worked on.
The Grandfather District of Pisgah National Forest remains closed. We are in communication with district staff and will post updates as soon as we have information on openings or when we can schedule events.
