With the North Carolina stay-at-home order being eased with the Phase 1 reopening, several trail systems in Northwest NC have reopened, including Lake James State Park, and Kerr Scott Reservoir. Both facilities have parking restrictions. In the Pisgah Grandfather District, trails remain open but some roads are still closed. To view the most up-to-date closures in Pisgah, visit the Alerts & Notices page for NFsNC. Other general details for trails we work on are posted on our webpage, along with links to find the most up to date updates directly from the land managers.
Trails will have issues. Prepare to encounter downed trees and debris since volunteer work is currently prohibited at these facilities. It would be useful to have trail conditions and photos of issues submitted via the Trailforks Mobile App since the geo-tagged locations can be reviewed and addressed when the time is right. We have been communicating with the land managers about when we can resume volunteer work on the trails at these locations and we expect to be doing work in small groups soon. Please contact us if you want to help. We look forward to posting about our organized work parties soon.
Lastly, please join or renew your membership to help us with what we do. Do so now thru June and be entered to win 1 of 16 prize packages as part of the Spring Membership Drive.
