Your Comments Needed by Jan 5 to Support Mountain Biking in Pisgah National Forest

Dec 31, 2014 | Uncategorized

The Pisgah and Nantahala Forest Planning process is underway, and the deadline for public comments is January 5, 2015. Please take a minute to submit some thoughts no later than January 5th.

This planning process is the best avenue for mountain bikers to tell the USFS your thoughts regarding proposed timber production, Wilderness designations and management prescriptions. Also tell them about what places you value and why, and provide any other recommendations you’d like them to consider about managed areas or designations. Any lands put under a Wilderness designation would become off-limits to bicycle use.

IMBA-SORBA has provided a release that includes a position statement and an outline of important areas that mountain bikers need to consider while making comments.

How to comment:
-Email comments to NCPlanRevision@fs.fed.us.
-Comments can be mailed to the USFS Supervisor’s Office, 160 Zillicoa St, Suite A, Asheville, NC 28801.
-Also, the Collaborative Mapping Tool is a good place to leave public comments. These are area-specific, and can also be left anonymously.

For more information about the “Plan” see the the NFsNC website.
